Terms & Conditions

Last updated: October 3, 2026

These terms explain how you can use catlas.ca and how we work together when you hire Catlas to design, build or look after your website. By using this site or starting a project with us, you agree to them.

01Who we are

“Catlas”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Catlas, a web design agency for local businesses. “You” and “your” refer to the person or business using this site or working with us. You can reach us any time through the contact form on our website.

02Our services

We design and build websites, set up online gift card systems, connect booking and ordering tools, improve SEO and performance, write conversion copy, and provide ongoing care and optimization. The exact work for your project is described in your proposal.

03Proposals and scope

Every project starts with a written proposal that sets out the scope, deliverables and timeline. The proposal, together with these terms, forms our agreement. If the two ever conflict, the proposal wins for that project.

Work that falls outside the agreed scope (new pages, extra features, additional integrations or major changes of direction) is treated as a change request. We will tell you what it involves before doing it, and nothing outside the scope proceeds without your approval.

04What we need from you

Good work depends on good input. To keep your project on track, you agree to:

  • provide content, images, brand assets and information we reasonably ask for, on time;
  • give us the access we need to domains, hosting and the tools we are connecting;
  • review and approve work within a reasonable time;
  • make sure you have the right to use anything you send us, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

Delays in receiving content, access or feedback can move the timeline. We will always let you know when that happens.

05Timelines, reviews and approval

Timelines in a proposal are our honest estimate and depend on the input above. Each phase includes the review rounds listed in your proposal. Once you approve a phase or the site goes live, further changes to that work are handled as a change request or through ongoing care.

06Ownership

When the project is complete, you own your website: the design, the copy we write for you, and the accounts set up in your name. Your content always remains yours.

We keep ownership of our pre-existing tools, templates, code libraries, methods and know-how, and you receive a permanent licence to use whatever of them is built into your site. Third-party items such as fonts, stock images, plugins and software remain subject to their own licences.

Unless you ask us not to, we may show the finished work in our portfolio and mention you as a client. We will never share confidential information in doing so.

07Third-party services

Your website and gift cards may rely on services we do not control, such as hosting providers, domain registrars, payment processors, booking and ordering platforms, and email tools. Those services are governed by their own terms and pricing. We choose reliable providers, but we are not responsible for their outages, changes, or decisions to discontinue a feature.

08Monthly plans, billing and cancelling

Your website and any add-ons you choose, such as gift cards or Google review replies, are billed as one monthly plan, at the price set out in your proposal, in Canadian dollars. There is no setup fee: we build your site first, and billing starts the day it goes live. While your plan is active, we keep your site hosted, updated, monitored and improving.

There is no contract. Plans run month to month. You can cancel, or drop an add-on, at any time by telling us in writing (a message through our contact form is enough). The change takes effect at the end of the month you have already paid for, and partial months are not refunded.

If you leave, your domain, your content and the accounts set up in your name stay yours, and we help you move them. The features we run for you (your portal, the gift card system, the monthly report and review replies) stop at the end of your last paid month. Before then, we send you the full record of your gift cards, so you can honour every card your guests already bought.

We may change our prices. We will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your plan, so you can decide whether to keep it. If a payment fails and is not sorted out within 30 days of our telling you, we may pause the services in your plan until it is.

Gift card payments go straight to your own Stripe account. Catlas takes no commission on them; Stripe’s own card fees apply.

09Confidentiality

We keep your business information, logins and data confidential and use them only to deliver our work. We ask the same of you for anything we share that is marked or reasonably understood as confidential.

10No guaranteed results

We build every site to perform, and we will always do careful, professional work. But search rankings, traffic, leads and revenue depend on many things outside our control: search engines, competitors, your market and your own operations. We therefore cannot guarantee any specific result. Except as expressly stated in your proposal, our work is provided “as is”.

11Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Catlas is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or business interruption, arising from our services or this site. Our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12Ending a project

Either of us may end a project with written notice if the other seriously breaches these terms and does not fix it within a reasonable time after being told. If a project ends early, we will hand over the work completed up to that point.

13Using this website

You may browse catlas.ca for your own information. Please do not copy or reuse its design, text, images or code without our permission, attempt to interfere with how it works, or use it for anything unlawful. The content on this site is general information and may change at any time.

14Your information

When you contact us, we use your name, contact details and message only to reply to you and discuss your project. We do not sell your information. If you would like us to delete anything you have sent us, just ask. Our Privacy Policy explains this in full.

15Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Quebec, unless the law requires otherwise.

16Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. The terms in place when you signed your proposal continue to apply to that project unless we both agree otherwise.

Questions? Send us a note through our contact form. We are happy to explain anything here.
